My Browser Was a Mess. So I Built a Solution.

I have a problem. Or, I had a problem. My browser’s tab bar was a graveyard of good intentions. Dozens of tabs—project research, interesting articles I’d definitely read later, documentation, half-finished online shopping carts, and a sea of forgotten Google searches. It was a source of constant, low-grade anxiety and a massive drain on my RAM.

I tried the existing tab managers. Some were clunky and ugly, relics from a bygone era of the web. Others were bloated, over-engineered monstrosities that slowed my browser down more than the tabs they were supposed to manage. None of them felt right. They were tools I had to tolerate, not tools I enjoyed using.

As a developer, when a tool sucks, you have two choices: complain or build a better one.

So I built a better one.

Today, I’m launching Session Shepherd, a Chrome extension I built from the ground up to be the session manager I always wanted: powerful, beautiful, and ridiculously fast.

The philosophy behind Session Shepherd is simple: get out of your way and let you focus. It’s built on three core principles:

1. It Must Be Powerful: Save any combination of tabs into a named “session” with a single click. Restore it later in a new window or your current one. Organize sessions with categories and tags, and find exactly what you need with powerful filtering in a full-page dashboard.

3. It Must Be Private & Fast: Session Shepherd is built with clean, efficient, vanilla JavaScript. No bloat. No frameworks. And most importantly, all your data is stored locally on your machine. I can’t see your data. I don’t want to see your data. It’s yours, period.
