Your Data Deserves Respect
This policy explains how MikeWhob collects, uses, and protects information when you visit the website (including the blog and comments) and when you use my products distributed through third-party marketplaces.
No Selling. No Dark Patterns.
We do not sell your personal information. We only process data that is necessary to operate this site and provide the features you use—especially blog comments and content analytics.
Who We Are (Controller / Operator)
This website is operated by Michael Whobrey (MikeWhob). If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, contact us at mikewhob@gmail.com.
What Information We Collect on the Website
The website includes a blog with comments and an admin portal for moderating content. Depending on how you interact, we may collect the following:
Blog Comments (Firestore)
If you submit a blog comment, we store your name, email, and comment text in Firebase Firestore. We also store related metadata such as post title, post slug, timestamp, and values used by the moderation workflow (including moderation flags).
View & Read Counters (Firestore + Analytics)
We track basic engagement signals for blog posts (views and read events). View/read counters are updated in Firestore post documents. The same events are also logged to Firebase Analytics where available.
Admin Access (Firebase Auth + Google)
To moderate content, admins sign in using Firebase Authentication, including Google sign-in. Admin accounts may be authenticated by Google, and the session is managed by Firebase Auth.
What Data Is Stored for Comments
Based on the current implementation, comment documents include fields such as:
How We Use Your Information
We use the information above to:
Operate the Blog
Publish and display your comments and the posts they relate to.
Moderate and Protect
Moderate comments (approved/spam workflows) and reduce abuse.
Measure Engagement
Maintain view/read counters and understand which content is helpful.
Data Sharing & Third Parties
We use third-party services to host and process the website’s functionality. These services may receive and process information as part of delivering the features above, including:
Firebase
Firestore (storage), Firebase Auth (admin login), and Firebase Analytics (events).
Font Awesome
Icons loaded from a CDN to render UI elements.
Where required, you should review the privacy policies of those third parties as well.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect the website. However, no system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
Session Shepherd (Chrome Extension)
Session Shepherd is built to keep session data local on your machine. The extension stores captured session information using Chrome’s chrome.storage.local and is not designed to transmit browsing session data to a server controlled by the developer.
For the extension’s detailed privacy information, see the Session Shepherd Privacy Policy.
Other Products (Libraries & Tools)
Projects such as Spectre Json, Dart Faye, PyFaye, and RedPanda are software you run in your own environment. Unless a product explicitly provides a network service in its documentation, it does not inherently transmit your personal data to MikeWhob.
If you choose to integrate these products into applications that send data to servers, your application’s design (and any third-party services it uses) governs what data is collected and where it is sent.
Your Choices & Rights
You may request access, correction, or deletion of information where applicable. For comment-related requests, moderation decisions are handled by admins of this site.
Contact us at mikewhob@gmail.com and include enough detail for us to locate your information.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
